Initiative to Return 75,000 Original Registered Documents Launched in Pune

On April 4, 2025, the Hon’ble Revenue Minister of the State, Shri Chandrashekhar Bawankule, inaugurated a special initiative aimed at returning approximately 75,000 original registered documents to their respective parties. These documents pertain to registrations carried out between the years 1985 and 2001 at the Sub-Registrar Offices in Pune city. The event was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue, Registration & Stamps), Shri Rajesh Kumar, and the Inspector General of Registration, Shri Ravindra Binwade. Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors the from state were also present on the occasion.
Between 1985 and 2001, nearly 1.5 lakh (150,000) original documents were registered and processed at the Joint Sub Registrar Haveli Offices No. 1 to 9 in Pune city. However, many parties failed to collect their documents at the time of registration. Consequently, when these parties now visit the offices to retrieve them, they often face delays and must make repeated visits, resulting in inconvenience, delays in their important work, and numerous complaints.
Storing these uncollected documents poses a risk to the department and also incurs costs in terms of manpower and storage space.
To address this issue, the Office of the Joint District Registrar, Pune City, has taken proactive steps by initiating verification of all old documents from Haveli Offices No. 1 to 9. Lists of documents that are ready to be returned have been prepared. In the first phase, lists comprising 75,000 such documents have been finalized, and these documents are now ready to be handed over to the concerned parties.
On April 4, 2025, the Hon’ble Revenue Minister officially released these lists. They have also been published under the “New” section on the official website of the Registration and Stamps Department. Additionally, updated addresses and Google location QR codes for all Sub-Registrar Offices in Pune have been made available on the website.
The Joint District Registrar of Pune City, Mr. Santosh Hingane, has appealed to concerned parties to visit the respective Sub-Registrar Offices with their original receipts and valid identification to collect their documents.
