3,699 Stalled Construction Projects Completed Following MAHARERA’s Strict Action!
MahaRERA had issued notices to stalled (lapsed) construction projects across the state. As a result, developers have informed MahaRERA that 3,699 such projects have now been completed.
These projects have received occupancy certificates from the respective municipal corporations and councils. MahaRERA has instructed that these certificates be verified for authenticity, and a report be submitted within 10 days. If no response is received from the authorities within this period, MahaRERA will assume that the occupancy certificates are valid and initiate the process of marking the projects as completed. In case of any disputes regarding the occupancy certificates later, the responsibility will lie with the respective authority, MahaRERA has warned.
The Pune division alone accounts for 1,223 of these projects, with 1,045 located specifically in the Pune district. As a response to the notices sent by MahaRERA to lapsed projects, developers of 3,699 projects have reported completion and uploaded their respective occupancy certificates—issued by planning authorities—on the MahaRERA portal.
In light of housing project frauds in areas like Kalyan-Dombivli, MahaRERA has decided to get these certificates officially verified by the concerned authorities.
Occupancy Certificates to be Uploaded on MahaRERA Portal
Every housing project must be registered with MahaRERA before selling flats, as per mandatory regulations. During the construction phase, developers are required to submit quarterly progress reports and annual reports. After project completion, it is mandatory to upload the occupancy certificate issued by the relevant authority on the MahaRERA portal.
Once MahaRERA accepts the occupancy certificate, the developer is granted complete access to withdraw all funds from their designated account. Additionally, they are no longer required to submit any further reports related to that project.
